How to create a seed keyword list

Ever wondered what keywords or key phrases people type in to google to find the service or product you provide?

Red Evolution have devised a fantastic new keyword tool which lets you create your own scenario for a search query. After creating the scenario, a unique URL is created which you can then email to friends, post on forums,  send to people to test for you, etc. These people then enter the search phrase they would use for each scenario and the system generates a seed keyword list.

An example scenario can be found here, I’m looking for somewhere where I can advertise my services and products. and you can use the same page to create your own scenarios.

Are comparison websites conning us

With my car insurance is up for renewal next month I decided to try out a couple of car insurance comparison websites.

My first surprise was the fact that no results were returned by my present insurer, Direct Line. This seems strange, as how can we get a true and fair comparison if one of the major car insurers isn’t included by the car insurance comparison sites?

The 2nd thing I noticed was that even though I used 2 completely seperate comparison sites, the results returned were exactly the same.

I made a note of the quotes, went online with a 2nd pc (to ensure no cookies were picked up) and went direct to the insurer which the comparison site had the cheapest.

I added exactly the same details, and got a bit of a surprise, the price this time was cheaper.

HitTail Keyword Checker

I currently use a combination of statcounter and google analytics to track website visitors, both are great in their own ways, but it can sometimes be a little time consuming when tracking which keywords visitors are using when landing on my pages.

With this in mind I will spend next week testing out the free version of HitTail a tool which claims to be the only product that reveals in real time which keywords people use to find your website.

If it is as good as the reports I hear say, I will probably upgrade to HitTail Plus or opt for a custom quote, which appears to be the best option with the ammount of traffic I receive.

How to be found online

It has been said many times, there is little point in having a fantastic website, if nobody visits it!

The following articles describes how to overcome this problem and how you can be found online.
