Megan Stafford Counselling and Psychotherapy
Twickenham, Middlesex, TW1 2AU
I am a psychotherapist in final training offering low cost counselling and psychotherapy. I have five years of experience working with adults on a range of issues, both in private practise and for a number of not-for-profit organizations. There are a number of reasons which may prompt the decision to seek counselling and psychotherapy – a stressful life event, an issue at work, bereavement, a relationship difficulty, or possibly a long held problem that you feel you would like to now address. You may not even be sure about your specific reasons. I believe, through the provision of a safe, non-judgemental space, counselling and psychotherapy can help us in coming to terms with and addressing painful feelings, a lack of fulfilment, or a feeling of being stuck. Therapy can aid us in developing our awareness and promote greater understanding and acceptance of ourselves, leading to effective change.

Twickenham Counselling
Twickenham, Middlesex, TW2 6LS
We all face personal crises and emotional difficulties at somepoint in our lives. And you may find it difficult to cope alone. While counselling in Twickenham, I aim to provide a safe therapeutic environment for clients seeking help with psychological issues. In these difficult times, you may be seeking short-term, solution-focussed work; or longer-term therapy at more emotional depth. I focus on depression, trauma, bereavement, anxiety, stress and anger. As in life, the most important aspect of counselling is the quality of the relationship. You will find me empathic, compassionate and responsive to your needs. Whether you are experiencing personal upheaval, relationship problems or just want to live a more fulfilling life, I understand it can be challenging to talk things through. You can therefore rely on me to listen with sensitivity and understanding. I provide a confidential, down-to-earth service that allows you to explore your issues in-depth without any hidden agendas. You will find me warm and easy to talk to. I enjoy helping people find a way forward; not by imposing my values on them. I consider my role as a vocation and a calling. As well as my private practice, I teach trainee counsellors at Saint Mary’s University College and in Further Education. I have experience in public clinics, psychiatric hospitals, MIND and as the first male counsellor to practice in a rape crisis service. I have lived and worked in urban and rural areas, in inner cities and the suburbs, at home and abroad.

I offer counselling in Twickenham and Teddington working with people on a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, self esteem, relationships and bereavement. You will be supported and accepted without judgement or criticism, enabling you to explore your inner world at your own pace. I believe that developing acceptance and awareness in a safe, confidential space facilitates change and choice as I have experienced with clients and in my own development. My integrative counselling approach combines this humanistic philosophy with assumptions that our past experiences can shape how we think, feel and behave in the present day, and that this can be re-written in therapy. Counselling sessions last approximately 50 minutes and usually take place weekly at the same time that is convenient for you. You can come for as long as you find counselling helpful, which can also be discussed in the first session.
