Founder Eddie Wright opened the first Ford dealership in Scunthorpe in the late 1940s, followed by a Volkswagen dealership in the 1950s and the first Renault dealership in Scunthorpe in the 1960s. The family then decided to open a motorcycle dealership on Gilliat Street, Scunthorpe, in the 1950s selling Velocette, Matchless and Ariel bikes.
