Ballards Butchers is a family-run butcher shop in Castle Douglas, Dumfries & Galloway. We are farmer-butchers, with a wide understanding of the rearing, handling and transportation of animals and the impact this can have on the quality of meat products. Operating our own farm in Twynholm, we are able to source traditional Scotch Beef and lamb that has been produced using methods that ensure all meat is tender and delicious. These include grazing on lush Galloway grass and home-grown barley. We also sell pork and game, sourced from other farms that share our philosophy on animal-rearing. We are as committed to our butchery as we are to rearing healthy animals in these natural, low-stress environments. All butchery takes place in-house, at the hands of a skilled member of our team, and we are always happy to discuss our practice if you have any questions. We also put together our products, including pies and ready-meals, within our premises, so that we can control the quality and give our food its homemade character.
