I would like to introduce Betsy Jenny Counselling and Wellbeing Cafe. It is Sunderland's first Counselling and Wellbeing Cafe located on Bridge Street in the City Centre. After Steven, founder, sought counselling himself after losing both his parents and his son within the space of 2 years, he realised the lack of mental health provision for the community and the idea was formed to create Betsy Jenny Counselling and Wellbeing Cafe. We are creating a vibrant community hub that will offer a variety of wellbeing provision including low cost, and in most cases free counselling, wellbeing activities both 1:1 and in a group, alternative therapies and low cost healthy food served daily. We have set up as a non-profit Community Interest Company, registration number 13270651, so all profits are ploughed back into the cafe to help more and more local people. Betsy Jenny Wellbeing Cafe is a community business that is locally rooted, community-led and run. The only reason we trade is for the benefit of our community and to make life better for local people, physically, mentally, emotionally and economically.
