This covers separation and divorce. I state this because sometimes children can start to adapt when their parents are separated, but the finality of divorce can spark up a range of problems and worries for children. Separation and divorce are difficult times for the parents and children involved. The effect of separation and divorce on children can lead to anxiety, eating disorders, relationship struggles, sleep difficulties, depression, lack of enjoyment in life, bullying, separation anxiety and feelings of guilt and loss amongst other problems. Sometimes these issues present themselves quickly and others build up over time. Some children are able to talk to their friends and family about how they are feeling and over time come to accept what has happened and can start to build a new life and show great resilience. Others struggle to bounce back. Maybe as a parent, you need support in helping your child or managing your own thoughts and feelings and anxiety about your separation or divorce. I can help you too! You will be able to help your child move forward with greater ease if you are able to move forward too. We all need a little help here and there in life! In my work as an NLP4Kids child therapist in Leicestershire, I help reduce anxiety, improve communication and strengthen relationships - this is done via a free initial consultation session which can take place face-to-face or online with a parent present. If the child and parent/carer are quite happy with the initial consultation, we would book a session. NLP is a proactive form of therapy, so often only 2-6 sessions are required, although this will depend on how well the child responds to the treatment and how complex the case may be!
