Doula refers to an experienced woman who offers emotional and practical support to a woman (or couple) before, during and after childbirth. A doula believes in “mothering the mother” - enabling a woman to have the most satisfying and empowered time that she can during pregnancy, birth and the early days as a new mum. This type of support also helps the whole family to relax and enjoy the experience. As a Doula I believe that accessing emotional support is paramount through every stage of pregnancy, labour, birth and the early weeks after. Whether you feel that you just need an extra person by your side or you would like an extra pair of hands around the house once babe is born, I will remain non-judgemental, nor give advice in a medical capacity or make decisions for you and your family. My objectives are to nurture, to listen and to present you with your options. I will support your decisions and ultimately I will ensure that your wishes are heard and understood by others.
