Holden Counselling
Oldham, Greater Manchester, OL2 8PH
Sometimes life throws challenges at us which can throw us off course and being able to talk to someone who can help you put things in perspective and provide you with the ability to understand and address the problems you're facing can help you to find your inner strength and resilience. Having a space and time which is truly your own with no distractions and someone to listen who doesn't judge or criticise can help you to bring positive change into your life. Therapy sessions would be held face to face on a one to one basis, lasting for one hour, can be a single one-off session, weekly or for a longer duration, all of which is negotiable to suit your needs. I am qualified as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and in Person Centred counselling which means I am able to design therapy sessions which specifically meet your needs to ensure I am working alongside you to achieve the best possible outcomes for you. Cognitive behavioural Therapy offers a structured approach where together we can evaluate the connections between your thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and any physical symptoms you may be experiencing. On recognising the patterns, we can then decide what may be a more helpful pattern to follow. This structured way of working offers you the chance to reflect in between sessions and apply the learning to your everyday life. It is particularly useful if you are experiencing difficulties with depression, anxiety, phobias, panic disorder. CBT can give fast and effective results to get you feeling better in a short amount of time. Person centred counselling is a talking therapy where you can explore your experiences in a safe environment. This type of counselling does not offer advice and guidance but allows you the time to explore the difficulties which are bringing you to therapy. I will work to build a safe and trusting relationship with you, so you feel comfortable to access more difficult thoughts and feelings when you are ready. I will support you, without judgement, to make decisions about how to move forward in a positive way. Sometimes telling your story and being truly heard is the most important thing and can be life changing. I can use both therapies together; it may be that you do not have a set idea about how you want your therapy to be structured or you feel unhappy with life and discontent but you don't know the root cause - That's ok we can work it out together.

Are you struggling with something in your life? Do you need to talk to someone? We can help. We all go through times in our lives where we need extra support. We can often feel isolated with our problems - feeling that nobody understands us, or that we should just get on with things – and that can make us feel even worse. Being human is tough at times and we all have our own pressures – such as stress at work, family life, relationships, money worries – and these can lead to you feeling that you are exhausted, run down, and that you just can’t cope with life. Things can change. You don’t have to continue to struggle and you can feel better. Counselling and psychotherapy helps thousands of people in the UK every year and is recognised by the NHS to effectively resolve a wide range of issues. It is also an effective way to work with couples, which we also offer. We are professionally qualified and experienced practitioners, governed by the ethical standards and professional requirements of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). We practice from our offices in Uppermill, Saddleworth and offer home visits in the Greater Manchester / West Yorkshire region for clients unable to reach our office. We also offer support to clients throughout the UK by telephone and Skype video conferencing sessions. We are completely committed to supporting you with whatever you’re facing in a professional, confidential environment. We will work with you at your own pace and will treat everything you bring sensitively and with care. We appreciate it takes a lot of courage and trust to come and see me. Please do call us to discuss how we can help you. There’s no obligation to arrange an appointment; our initial conversation will focus on what’s going on for you right now, and how we can help you. Our number is 0741 581 4882.
