K Wratten Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a form of Chinese medicine that promotes natural healing of the body. The science and art of acupuncture involves insertion of fine needles into specific points along meridians, or channels, of the body to stimulate the nervous system, which then activates mechanisms which bring about balance and healing within the body. Acupuncture is a great way of getting well and helps maintain good health enabling you to stay well. Acupuncture is a safe and effective natural therapy and an increasingly popular form of healthcare used to treat a wide variety of ailments, both physical complaints and emotional issues - chronic or acute - as well as for general wellbeing. This holistic approach means that not only does the original complaint improve but other minor complaints too. The treatment: Fine, single-use, pre-sterilised, disposable needles are used at specific acupuncture points on the body to stimulate energy. Because many acupuncture points are located on the lower arms and legs, it is helpful to wear clothing that allows easy access to these areas. When combined with other Chinese Medicine techniques both clinical results and speed of recovery can be enhanced. Post treatment: Most people find acupuncture relaxing and often feel very calm after a treatment. It is possible to feel a little tired or sleepy, therefore it is best to refrain, after treatment, from anything too demanding. Advice may be given regarding lifestyle. Where necessary, referral to other healthcare practitioners for specialist care may be suggested. Kerry runs clinics in Seaton, Devon and South Petherton, Somerset. "There has never been a better time to seek to improve your health and wellbeing! Take positive action today and call me to discuss how acupuncture can help you."c

Ben Acupuncture
Goole, East Yorkshire
Ben Acupuncture is located within the big picture house in Snaith and serves the Goole and Selby areas. Ben Acupuncture is able to deliver acupuncture in the comfort of your own home if you live within the east riding of Yorkshire. Ben Acupuncture offers Traditional Chinese medicine which includes the use of - Acupuncture - Acupuncture involves the use of very fine, single use sterile needles to stimulate certain points on the body. These points known as acupuncture points are areas where we can manipulate the bodies Qi as it is closer to the surface. By stimulating this Qi or energy through the inner pathways known as meridians we can release blockages or any disruption there may be to restore the body to balance. this is all done using the bodies own natural healing ability - we are just giving the body a slight nudge in the right direction. Moxibustion - Moxibustion is the burning of a herb (mugwart) to create heat. This heat can expel cold and warm the meridians leading to a smoother flow of Qi and blood. Moxibustion can be used indirectly by burning it over the skin or by placing a small amount on top of a needle to allow the heat to be taken deep into the body via the needle. Moxa can also be placed directly on the skin, though a barrier is still in place between the burning moxa and the skin to prevent burning. This method produces a more intense warming sensation. Auricular Acupuncture - The ear is in itself a microsystem so that the whole body is reflected on the surface of the ear. Very small needles are used during treatment on certain points of the external ear that reflect certain areas or organs of the body. The use of small plasters containing a stimuli (usually a seed) can be placed on points so that the client can stimulate the points as desired between treatment sessions as to prolong the treatment effects Acupressure - If needles are not your thing or you are not quite ready for them then acupressure may be the way to go. Instead of using needles to penetrate the skin and affect the flow of Qi, we can simply apply pressure to the skin over the desired acupuncture points to release the flow of energy. Acupressure is also beneficial in relieving muscle tension and once the Qi energy is flowing blood circulation is also improved. Massage - Prior to your acupuncture treatment you may be offered a massage to relieve tension in the soft tissues thus preparing the area for needling. Massage often helps relax the patient, particularly if they are a little nervous about needles, and can also help identify the problem area. Massage is the treatment in which a therapist manipulates muscles and other soft tissues of the body to improve health and well-being. Varieties of massage range from gentle stroking and kneading of muscles and other soft tissues to deeper manual techniques. Massage has been practiced as a healing therapy for centuries in nearly every culture around the world. It helps relieve muscle tension, reduce stress, and evoke feelings of calmness. Although massage affects the body as a whole, it particularly influences the activity of the musculoskeletal, circulatory, lymphatic, and nervous systems. Cupping - Cupping is the use of glass or plastic cups on the skin and oxygen is removed from the cup using either a flame or a suction pump to create a vacuum. This suction pulls on the skin and superficial muscles invigorating the flow of Qi and blood within the area to promote healing. This procedure also expels pathogens from the body as well as strongly moving stagnant blood that can cause pain within the body. The cups can also be moved while on the surface of the skin to treat a wider area. This Therapy does result in bruising of the skin as the vessels on the surface of the skin expand. These bruises are usually painless and disappear within a few days. Facial rejuvenation - This is a virtually painless, non-surgical method of reducing the signs of the ageing process. It can help remove wrinkles and tighten up facial muscles. It is a rejuvenating and revitalising process designed to help the face and whole body look and feel younger. This process does require the use of many small needles to be placed on the face along facial creases as well as facial massage.

I was also one of the practitioners who took part in the King''s Funded CACTUS study (Classical Acupuncture for Treating Unexplained Symptoms) with GP surgeries throughout London, run in conjunction with LIFEA and the University of Exeter. Special Interests My special interest is in stress and fertility related issues and I regularly carry out appointments in/around London and Tunbridge Wells. Furthermore, I work voluntarily for The Stress Project a registered mental health charity based in Islington, helping disadvantaged members of the community suffering from depression and stress related illnesses (see where?). Previously, I also worked voluntarily for an organisation providing support care for people living with terminal illness. What is Acupuncture? Acupuncture is a system of complementary medicine involving the insertion of fine needles (acupuncture needles) into the skin to harness ''Qi'' energy (pronounced Chee) considered to be our vital life-force. The aim being, that stimulation of the body’s own natural healing system will then provide the best conditions by which wellbeing can be restored. Why Five Element? Five element acupuncture is a more ancient form of Chinese Medicine based upon the elements of Nature i.e. those of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. This also takes into account their interactions with each other and the philosophy that we are all made up of these same building blocks, with universal Qi providing the systems'' energy source. So by ensuring your body becomes balanced through acupuncture, the optimal condition is then reached to allow natural healing to take place.

Simple as that. But what does this really mean? Usually we don''t consider much what ''health'' means, except in contrast to its opposite: dis-ease. Your body is incredibly intricate, dealing (and hopefully thriving) with multiple changing external stimuli and demands. Good acupuncture helps to fine-tune the way your organs, hormones, nervous system, muscular system etc. relate with one another. This results in the best possible function of your entire system as it is right now, whatever your state of health. Continuously operating in this ''optimum configuration'' produces a virtuous cycle whereby the current ''best possible'' becomes better and better.

Edinburgh, Midlothian
West Edinburgh Acupuncture is where Jonathan Clogstoun-Willmott, Registered Acupuncturist, sees patients. 35 years experience means he has been able to help many thousands of people in the Edinburgh area although many come from much further away. At the time of writing the oldest patient is 93 and the youngest just a few months old. People come not just with the kinds of problems that their doctors aren''t good at helping, or for which the medical solution is indefinite heavy medication. But people do come for problems their doctors might be able to deal with but the patient prefers treatment without medication. Acupuncture is at least 3000 years old and has a huge theory based on classical Chinese medicine, which is still thriving. It has a sophisticated theory of pain, but treats many mental conditions too. Many people ring us for a chat before they come for the first time. Why don''t you? Ring 0131 629 3257 or 07950 012501.and speak to Jonathan.
Acu-Balance
Great Yarmouth, Norfolk
Five Element acupuncture endeavours to find and treat the cause of disease (the fundamental imbalance within each patient), return the patient to balance and then maintain their health in a preventative sense. By treating the patient’s core imbalance, and not just the associated symptoms, the patient is restored to their optimum health. It is not always useful and can even be seriously detrimental to simply eradicate symptoms, leaving the cause of disease untreated and ready to manifest in time as yet another set of symptoms. Everything about each individual and who they are as a whole is taken into consideration in Five Element acupuncture as the deep, underlying disharmony within the mind and body is carefully addressed.

The Brighton Acupuncture Studio
Brighton, West Sussex
What Is The Goal of Acupuncture? The overall aim of acupuncture treatment, is to restore the body’s equilibrium. What makes this system so uniquely suited to modern life is that physical, emotional and mental are seen as interdependent. Sakina combines TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) and Five-Element acupuncture, two of the most common and most effective forms of traditional acupuncture in the Brighton & Hove area. She also practices electro-acupuncture as well as cosmetic acupuncture. TCM is well suited to treating a wide range of physical, mental and emotional symptoms; whereas the Five-Element style focuses primarily on treating the underlying constitution of the person, thereby bringing about profound changes in a person’s sense of well-being. What is Electro-Acupuncture? Electro-acupuncture is a form of acupuncture where a small electric current is passed between pairs of acupuncture needles. Electro Acupuncture can restore health and well-being, and is particularly good for treating pain, such as back pain, knee injury or shoulder tension. What is Cosmetic Acupuncture? Cosmetic Acupuncture (or facial acupuncture) is a very effective non-surgical cosmetic therapy that can successfully reduce or retard the signs of ageing by encouraging the smooth flow blood and nutrients to and around the face, a process that can also significantly benefit skin conditions (acne, rosacea, eczema and psoriasis). Your Initial Consultation With Sakina During your initial consultation, Sakina will ask you questions about your general health and the issues you would like to have addressed. This involves asking questions about your current symptoms and your medical history, as well as such things as your sleeping pattern, your appetite and digestion, and your emotional wellbeing. Women are also asked about their menstrual cycle and any past pregnancies and childbirth. You might feel that some questions appear unrelated to your condition but the information you give helps your practitioner to form a more complete picture of your health and lifestyle. She will also take your pulse on both wrists and may examine your tongue and feel for areas of muscular tension or pain. She then will select the most suitable acupuncture points for your condition. Relax & Enjoy Your Treatment… You then can completely relax for about 30mins whilst the treatment is under way. This is when most patients fall asleep and say they feel refreshed when they wake up. When your treatment is complete, Sakina will ask you how you are feeling and decide if you need to have another appointment or not. She uses very fine, painless, disposable needles for every treatment and combines acupuncture with other therapies including tuina, cupping and moxibustion, to ensure you get the results you want.
