NEWS RELEASE from The OLD FORGE RESTAURANT Storrington.
LOCAL RESTAURANT CELEBRATES 20 years SUCCESS.
On the 4th October the Old Forge Restaurant in Storrington celebrates 20 successful years in the ownership of Cathy & Clive Roberts.
In 1998 Cathy & Clive Roberts discovered The Old Forge in Church Street. Once a celebrated Tea Room and latterly a small restaurant they turned the small room with low ceilings and the smaller kitchen in this 16thC lead forge into both a successful business and a family home.
Retirement by firstly the pet shop owner and then the hairdresser in the adjacent parts allowed Cathy and Clive to return to the Old Forge original floor plan, reuniting the complete building into a larger thriving restaurant.
Using fresh produce with a frequently changing menu Cathy & Clive have built a loyal following of regulars, both for the usual weeks and also for the very popular Food & Wine Evenings held six times a year to showcase the foods and wines from a particular region or country.
Its all about being consistent. Consistently good food in original recipes, good wines without being over-expensive. Looking after ones staff and customers.
For me its also about doing the little things well. Weve always included coffee and my petit-four in the price. Im a demon for sparkling glassware. But its also about the young people who have worked with us over the years. They have all been splendid and its so nice to see them do well in their education and careers.
And for the future.?
More of the same sounds boring but maintaining the standards of food and service, remaining somewhere both our regulars and new friends can come and enjoy a lunch or evening is our daily goal.
The Old Forge does not churn the tables; guests have the table for the evening.
Our 2 course lunch menu, including a glass of wine and tea or coffee, is just 15.50 and add a daily dessert for 3.50.
