HiHA (Health in Harmony Acupuncture)
Greenwich, London
I am a fully qualified and widely experienced five element acupuncturist who graduated from the School of Five Element Acupuncture (SOFEA). However, I began my studies in 2002 at the London College of Traditional Acupuncture (LCTA) and so possess a broad background in other acupuncture traditions as well. In addition, I receive continuous professional development (CPD) and completed a post-graduate excellence programme at the London Institute of Five Element Acupuncture (LIFEA - in association with the Kite Clinic). I was also one of the practitioners who took part in the King''s Funded CACTUS study (Classical Acupuncture for Treating Unexplained Symptoms) with GP surgeries throughout London, run in conjunction with LIFEA and the University of Exeter. Special Interests My special interest is in stress and fertility related issues and I regularly carry out appointments in/around London and Tunbridge Wells. Furthermore, I work voluntarily for The Stress Project a registered mental health charity based in Islington, helping disadvantaged members of the community suffering from depression and stress related illnesses (see where?). Previously, I also worked voluntarily for an organisation providing support care for people living with terminal illness. What is Acupuncture? Acupuncture is a system of complementary medicine involving the insertion of fine needles (acupuncture needles) into the skin to harness ''Qi'' energy (pronounced Chee) considered to be our vital life-force. The aim being, that stimulation of the body’s own natural healing system will then provide the best conditions by which wellbeing can be restored. Why Five Element? Five element acupuncture is a more ancient form of Chinese Medicine based upon the elements of Nature i.e. those of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. This also takes into account their interactions with each other and the philosophy that we are all made up of these same building blocks, with universal Qi providing the systems'' energy source. So by ensuring your body becomes balanced through acupuncture, the optimal condition is then reached to allow natural healing to take place.

Pippa Hancock Accupuncture
Haywards Heath, UK
Pippa is trained in acupuncture on a 3-year, full time degree course at the University of Westminster in London (formerly London School of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine). This course provided supervised clinical training using the Traditional Chinese Medical model. It also covered the core health sciences, practitioner development and research skills. Acupuncture focuses on improving general well being, not just treating isolated symptoms. The practice is part of the traditional Chinese system of medicine, which believes that the body is an energetic organism. Disease or ill health occur when the flow of energy (Qi) is blocked or out of balance. This may happen for various reasons, for example due to physical or emotional trauma, poor diet, stress or climate. Her aim as an acupuncturist is to identify any imbalances and correct them by inserting very fine, sterile, disposable needles into specific points on the body along the pathways of energy (Meridians).
