Lets Talk About It
Reading, Berkshire
I am an Integrative counsellor providing specialised counselling in Bereavement, Depression, Grief, Anxiety, Stress and Pet Bereavement. I focus on these subjects: Bereavement Counselling Everyone experiences bereavement to someone close at sometime in their life. I have been a bereavement counsellor for more than 6 years. Whether it is parent, spouse or partner or offspring it can be upsetting. I don't say I have seen it all, because I haven't but I have a lot of experience to help you. Pet Bereavement As an animal lover I am fully aware of how much our cat, dog or small or large animal can mean to us. The bond we form with our pet can be very strong. The loss we feel when they are gone can be devastating, especially if we are on our own. Depression Counselling Depression does not affect us alone, it impacts our partner, family, friends and frequently our colleagues at work. Our close family are likely to be sympathetic, but our friends and work colleagues may start to avoid us and worse still our job could be at risk. Counselling to give us techniques to overcome it may benefit you. Anxiety Counselling Anxiety affects many of us. It can impact us that we will avoid doing something or cause us concern when we see a pattern emerging. It will pray on our mind and prevent us from moving forward with our life. It is very common. Take steps to work out how to cope with it. Grief Counselling Grief is an emotion broader than Bereavement. You can also feel grief from the loss of a job, a divorce or breakup of a relationship, from the loss of something close to you. Counselling can help you come to terms with it. Stress Counselling Daily lives are full of stress, and we would probably not function well without any stress but too much will impact us and our family and friends. The usual causes of stress are work, money and relationships. What we need is to be aware of it, to have coping techniques which allow us to manage around it and keep a happier and healthy life.

Roz Welch Counselling and Psychotherapy
Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire
Today’s busy lifestyles can be a challenge and it is easy to lose sight of your dreams just by coping with everyday life. When things get too much, perhaps something unexpected happens, stress can cloud your judgement and every day can feel like hard work. Talking things over confidentially can help you put things into perspective and see things differently. Unexpected change can be difficult to manage, it can be hard to think straight given the busy lives we lead, trying to make sense of the unpredictable can leave us anxious, stressed and angry. Life’s changes; redundancy, bereavement, loss, illness or broken relationships can leave us in tatters, unable to cope. Irrational thoughts and low self esteem plague many of us, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy can help you recognise how your emotions affect your thoughts and behaviours; challenging and adapting beliefs to enable healthier thinking; helping you recognise your strengths and weaknesses, to maximise your potential, determine your priorities and construct achievable steps to attain your goals. Psychotherapy is a process of discovery, of self-awareness, facilitating change by seeing different perspectives, on why you do what you do and why you are who you are and how this affects your relationships, and your behaviour.

This gives you and either Diane or Yvonne an opportunity to meet, for us to tell you what we have to offer, explain a little bit about counselling, what it is and what it hopes to achieve if you no prior knowledge or understanding. This will also be your time to share as little or as much about what is bringing you into counselling. At the end of the FREE 30 minute consultation you will hopefully know whether you feel counselling is for you and Ivy Low Counselling is the place for you. It can be scary the thought of entering into a counselling relationship; it can also be challenging but more importantly it can be a posiive experience and rewarding You are important to us and we want you to feel you are in the best hands to share your feelings and what is impacting on you so following your consultation if you want to go away and think about it then that is okay. Do you feel stuck with a problem, trapped in a cycle of destructive behaviour? Can see no way forward? Feel that you are alone with these feelings? We know it is easy for us to say, but "please don''t despair, we can assure you, you are not alone and there are many people experiencing similar feelings to yourself" Perhaps you are having difficulty sleeping, feel exhausted, tearful, anxious, flying off the handle with those closest to you, over or under eating, mood swings, increased alcohol consumption, can''t trust anyone, carrying around feelings of guilt, emotions running away, angry, want to forgive but unable, feeling lonely, sad, overwhelmed, powerless, unable to cope on your own or life in general just unbearable and not functioning as you would like. These are typical of what our clients have shared with us and worked through as they wanted to make sense of things and regain control of their lives and they did. At this moment reading this you might be thinking - it''s too good to be true or this only happens to others - We say "it can happen to you as well" So go on pick up the phone to arrange your FREE 30minute consultation. You have everything to gain. We have experience of working with many presenting issues and here are just a few: Relationships Childhood Issues Bereavement and Loss Mental Health Domestic Abuse Sexual Identity Bullying and Harassment Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, (LGBT) Work Related Issues Life Events Anxiety and Stress Low Self Esteem Lack of Confidence We are situated in an easy accessible location in Ivybridge and also cover Plymouth, Plympton, Plymstock, South Hams and outlying areas. We offer flexible consulting hours to suit clients needs. There is Disabled Access and 2 hours FREE Parking. In addition to self referral we also accept referrals from GP Surgeries, Social Workers and Health Professionals. We charge £15 per session if your family income is £20,000 or less and £30 if more. You may find it useful to view our website to get a sense and feel of Ivy Low Cost Counselling, www.ivylowcostcounselling.yolasite.com Thank you for taking the time to read about us and we would like to finish by saying "Counselling does change the lives of those who are prepared to engage and work with the process" Best Wishes Diane and Yvonne

devon and exeter counselling
Exeter, Devon
Acknowledging that we are in need of a Counsellor can be quite a step, particularly as many of us value our ability to work things out for ourselves. Close friends partners and family can be so helpful but sometimes even they cannot give us what we really need. It may be separation or loss that has brought us to this point. Perhaps you are suffering from depression, anxiety or some kind of addictive behaviour or it could be more a vague sense of dissatisfaction and a desire for a greater sense of meaning that is the source of your discomfort. Whatever the issue, Counselling with a skilled Therapist can guide you through periods of difficulty and change towards a deeper understanding of yourself. My style is Integrative, drawing a little on most traditions and focussing particularly on modern Jungian approaches and Psychosynthesis (which attempts to reconcile our higher spiritual dimension with the darker aspects of our personalities) It’s also soulful which means seeing painful experiences, difficulties and suffering not just as things to get over but also as significant in forming character, wisdom and self acceptance. It’s paradoxical but in order to really change we need to fully accept ourselves as we are! I have some concessionary places available I am a registered member of the British association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and I abide by their ethical framework.
Centred Counselling
Plymouth, Devon
Sometimes in this fast paced life we lose track of who we are and what we genuinely want for ourselves, it's easy to become overwhelmed and stuck. This often creates anxiety/depression, which then impacts on self-esteem and decision making. In times of extreme stress its possible to dissociate which can be frightening and confusing. In my practice I can offer you a space where you can begin to unpick and share aloud what is happening for you, even if your not sure. Though it often doesn't feel like it, I believe that each person is unique and has an innate ability towards healing and in my role as a counsellor I will endeavour to journey alongside you as you discover this for yourself. I can offer a safe confidential space where I will carefully listen and help you explore what is happening for you. I will use my counselling skills and training to help you reach your goals. The Scent of Water Counselling Service
Brighton, East Sussex
Statement of Belief When we are born we have no notion of what awaits us. Sometimes we can feel ill equipped to overcome what life seems to throw at us. Life can get us down and we don’t know who to turn to. As a Humanistic Counsellor I offer you a space where you will be heard, valued and accepted as a unique human being. My desire is to journey with you and to help you search for a way of living that is meaningful to you. Why do our relationships always seem to be chaotic or follow the same predictable patterns? For some of us this can be the way we have learnt to behave or assume is customary. For others, unresolved trauma can account for the problems we experience in adult life. For survivors of childhood incest and sexual abuse this is compounded by secrecy, shame and fear. Our childhood can cast a long shadow for many reasons and we can work together to find a new and rewarding way of relating. For survivors, refusing to deny the truth any longer is ultimately the way out of the hidden pain of the past. This will take courage and commitment and I welcome the opportunity to be a steadfast companion with you as you find healing and hope for the future. I offer short or long-term counselling to suit your needs. With trauma I advise longer-term counselling. Be encouraged. You are not a problem; the problem is the problem. Experience I work with Anxiety and Depression, Bereavement and Loss, Crisis pregnancy and miscarriage, Dissociation, Existential concerns, Incest and Sexual Abuse, , Rape, Relationship and family concerns. I am also a volunteer Counsellor with Survivors’ Network Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre in Brighton. Qualifications and training Masters level Post Graduate Diploma in Humanistic Therapeutic Counselling Cruse training certificate in Bereavement and Loss Care Confidential training certificate in Crisis Pregnancy The Journey training certificate in Post Abortion Stress Fees I offer a free 35 minute introductory session to help you decide if you would like us to work together. A one-to-one counselling session is charged at £35. Each session will last 50 minutes and ideally will take place at the same time each week. Home visits are possible if appropriate. A couples counselling session is charged at £45. I offer a concessionary rate of £25 for trainee Counsellors Payment is usually by cash at the end of each session. Additional information As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) I adhere to their policy of accountable and ethical practice. I have a personal Christian faith and if called upon I work within a framework of biblical teaching.

Are you struggling with something in your life? Do you need to talk to someone? We can help. We all go through times in our lives where we need extra support. We can often feel isolated with our problems - feeling that nobody understands us, or that we should just get on with things – and that can make us feel even worse. Being human is tough at times and we all have our own pressures – such as stress at work, family life, relationships, money worries – and these can lead to you feeling that you are exhausted, run down, and that you just can’t cope with life. Things can change. You don’t have to continue to struggle and you can feel better. Counselling and psychotherapy helps thousands of people in the UK every year and is recognised by the NHS to effectively resolve a wide range of issues. It is also an effective way to work with couples, which we also offer. We are professionally qualified and experienced practitioners, governed by the ethical standards and professional requirements of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). We practice from our offices in Uppermill, Saddleworth and offer home visits in the Greater Manchester / West Yorkshire region for clients unable to reach our office. We also offer support to clients throughout the UK by telephone and Skype video conferencing sessions. We are completely committed to supporting you with whatever you’re facing in a professional, confidential environment. We will work with you at your own pace and will treat everything you bring sensitively and with care. We appreciate it takes a lot of courage and trust to come and see me. Please do call us to discuss how we can help you. There’s no obligation to arrange an appointment; our initial conversation will focus on what’s going on for you right now, and how we can help you. Our number is 0741 581 4882.

David W Peak
Manchester, Greater Manchester
I have been helping adults with a range of psychological problems since the year 2000, when I gave up my professional accountancy practice in favour of my new-found metier, counselling and psychotherapy. Since then I have seen hundreds of men and women from all walks of life and with different sexual preferences, able bodied and disabled, who came, ostensibly, for many different reasons, but all with one object in mind -- to gain relief from the internal conflict that was distressing them. I have used different treatment models, some time-limited brief therapy models for EAP clients and some long-term psychotherapeutic models for clients whose condition was more severe, and my clients have experienced large measures of relief from both models. I have a Diploma in Person-Centred Therapy, which is the bedrock foundation of all I do in my practice, but I am widely read in other counselling modalities and they also inform the work I do, which is always tailored to the individual needs of the client. I am also trained in the use of Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) which I employ whenever the modality is appropriate for the needs of my clients. I am trained as a teacher in Further Education and have taught Counselling up to Diploma level in several colleges for a number of years. My knowledge, experience and skill has been accredited by the BACP, a body which regulates its members to protect the public from harm.

Marion Dunn Counselling
Ealing, London
There is not very much difference between counselling and psychotherapy. Generally the word ‘counselling’ is used for short term work where the focus is on problem solving. ‘Psychotherapy’ is more often used where the emphasis is placed on deeper emotional problems and may last a number of years. You may decide to come for counselling about a specific problem and then choose to spend longer looking at a range of issues and gain a deeper understanding of yourself. The most important aspect of counselling is the professional relationship you build up with your counsellor. A good relationship in therapy is one which is non judgemental and respectful and involves the establishment of trust. I aim to provide a safe, empathic and confidential environment for you to explore your problems and issues.

The understanding of exploring your thoughts and feelings with a professional can lighten your sense that you are not alone. Therapy can enhance your perception of yourself and improve your choices and understandings of problems. We understand the diversity of everyone and try to accommodate as many people as possible therefore at the moment we can offer therapy in the Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi, Bengali and Polish language. We can also offer Islamic counselling. We are currently working towards offering Skype and telephone counselling. We appreciate that not everyone can afford counselling and that is why our prices are very competitive and reduced for people who are unemployed, on benefits or receive a low income.

Dharma Paul Counselling and Psychotherapy
West London, London
Counselling and therapy focus on the client''s issues. I do not advise you or suggest ways to solve problems. Instead, you and I think together about the issues that affect you. We each explore the feelings and thoughts you have about your life. Our first meeting forms an assessment. It normally lasts about 75 minutes. The aim is to identify your needs and explore whether psychodynamic counselling or therapy would be helpful. We may then both take some time to think about possible options. This might involve us agreeing to work together. If we decide to work together, you would agree to attend 50-minute sessions at the same time on the same day every week. We would then meet for regular appointments till we agree to end our work together. While many people attend weekly sessions, those who feel the need for more support often choose to attend sessions twice weekly or sometimes three times weekly.
Julia Bueno UKCP
London, London
I am a qualified, experienced, and UKCP registered Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor, working in Stoke Newington, N16. I am also a member of the BACP. Talking therapies can have a reputation for being aloof, or even seen as an indulgence. They are also often misrepresented in the media. There are so many types, it can be overwhelming. You might feel worried about what will happen in therapy, or unsure which approach will work best for you. I hope to de-mystify what takes place in therapy so you can think about whether it is what you are looking for. If you''ve made it this far, perhaps you are feeling something that is getting in the way of things. Maybe you are sad, angry, anxious, low or struggling to like yourself. Maybe you are feeling ok, but you would like to improve how you relate to other people, face life''s challenges, or parent your children. You may be in a relationship that is struggling and needs help to get back on track. My experience has convinced me that talking about your concerns with someone trained to hear them, and respond to them, in a particular way, can be very helpful. It won''t "cure" you, or delete a painful past, but it can equip you to move on with greater ease, and perhaps pave the way for further positive change.

I have also spent six years working in education, most recently providing training for a national family support charity, and before that working as a senior lecturer in law. Until 2008 I was a senior solicitor in a tier 1 law firm in the City.

I provide a safe, calm, non judgemental and confidential space for you to bring any troubling thoughts or feelings you may be experiencing. I am professionally qualified and offer both long and short term counselling to individuals. Training, Qualifications & Experience I trained and qualified at the BACP accredited Manor House Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling where I gained a diploma in psychodynamic counselling. Areas of counselling I deal with AbortionAbuseAddiction(s)Anger ManagementAnxietyBereavementBullyingCareer CounsellingDepressionEating DisordersLow Self-ConfidenceLow Self-EsteemPersonality DisordersPost-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)Relationship IssuesSelf HarmSexual IssuesSexualityStressTraumaWork Related Issues Therapies Offered Psychoanalytical and Psychodynamic - Psychodynamic Therapy Fees £40 per 50 minute session. I also offer a low cost counselling service for those who are unemployed or on a low income. Further Information Why Choose Psychodynamic Counselling? In order for someone to make a long lasting change, one needs to have an insight and understanding of what has caused the initial problem in the first place. An issue that is causing you pain and angst in the present may well have its roots in the past, although the individual may not be aware of the particular connection. Psychodynamic counselling can help one uncover these hidden links, thus allowing the individual a greater freedom of thoughts. It is about exploring thoughts and feelings freely, becoming more aware of issues affecting ones life and enabling a person to make beneficial changes to his or her life. How it works You are given the space to talk openly about about whatever might be troubling you or feels most important - this may be thoughts, dreams, feelings, relationship concerns or events that have occurred in recent weeks that have had an impact on you. Together we will work to help you gain a deeper understanding of the possible causes and affects of such thoughts and feelings. Counselling may enable you to gain an insight in to aspects of the self that were previously unknown and will therefore allow you to see how these are affecting the present - perhaps finding ways of doing things differently as a result. The Session The session will be 50 minutes on the same day at the same time each week. The frequency of the session is essential and beneficial to the work, so regular attendance to counselling is a commitment. Confidentiality All that you speak of during the sessions will be kept highly confidential. Making The First Appointment If you are interested and feel you might benefit from the opportunity to be in counselling, then please get in touch via the contact page. The initial appointment will be an assessment whereby you can think about what you might want from counselling before deciding to go further and this usually lasts between 60 - 90 minutes. In the assessment, there is a chance for us to talk about that issues that are of concern to you and how being in counselling might benefit you. It''s in this meeting that we will decide on a convenient time and day for you to attend the sessions on a regular basis

In these difficult times, you may be seeking short-term, solution-focussed work; or longer-term therapy at more emotional depth. I focus on depression, trauma, bereavement, anxiety, stress and anger. Teri Watkin Counselling
Fakenham, Norfolk
Counselling is often talked about in terms of the length of time the client meets with the counsellor. Short term counselling is suited to those who come with a specific issue that they wish to think about and usually lasts about six to eight weeks. Everything that we talk about is focussed on the particular issue being addressed and together we will think about which ‘tools’ will be most helpful in enabling the issue to be addressed. We may do some solution-focussed work, we may use CBT, we may think about writing that you have done or images that you have created – I will adjust to what suits each individual. Long-term counselling is much more open-ended and is suited to people who come with a general sense of wanting to change things, of life being ‘difficult’, or with a history of broken relationships. Rather than focussing in on a specific issue, we will allow the therapy to take its own course. When working long-term I build reviews into the therapy so that we can track how things are going and make adjustments as and when necessary. Counselling sessions last for 50 minutes. I usually set aside a regular time and day for each client but am happy to be flexible where work/family commitments don’t allow this.

Talk itThru Counselling Service
Norwich, Norfolk
Whatever the problem it can help to Talk it Thru I offer an integrative approach tailored to the needs of each individual or couple We all have times when problems seem to overwhelm us and we feel we can't move forward. Sometimes we can unburden ourselves by talking to others but talking things through with a counsellor goes much further. It is popularly said that "a problem shared is a problem halved" but sometimes we don't want to trouble family members or friends and talking things through with those close to us can even be unhelpful as they can be too involved to give us the unbiased support we need. As a qualified counsellor you can be assured that I would have no personal agenda and would never criticise or judge you, instead I would offer you a safe and confidential environment where you can talk and we can work things through together. I know from my own experience how important it is to find a therapist that you feel comfortable with, so our first session together would be an informal, no obligation meeting to ensure that we can work together There are many reasons that people seek counselling such as: Grief or emptiness following a bereavement, the end of a relationship or other loss Feelings of depression or sadness Difficulty coping with stresses in your life Anger management Generalised anxiety disorder Anxiety, panic attacks or phobias Issues with low confidence or low self esteem Eating disorders Relationship issues, Repeatedly becoming involved in unsatisfying or destructive relationships Addictive or self-destructive behaviour Experience of trauma, violence or abuse whether currently or in the past Needing support whilst caring for someone with an illness, addiction or disability Recently experienced divorce, redundancy or health issues Workplace relationships and work related stress (I offer a special rate for NHS staff) Having trouble making important decisions. Stuck in a rut Wanting to achieve balance in life

Paula Brown Counselling Service
Mansfield, Nottinghamshire
Hi my name is Paula - many thanks for finding my profile. Finding the right counsellor is an important step. The fact that you are here means that you have already made the biggest step in recognising you would like some support. This maybe your first time in seeking support or you have tried several counsellors before and it''s not felt right or you have not achieved what you wanted to. The next step is to try to make sure that you feel comfortable with your counsellor. The connection between counsellor and client is built and established to support and encourage you to find a way forward. The right connection with your counsellor will allow you to form stronger existing relationships / friendships, recognise any harmful ones and consider what is important for you. I will advise you if I do not feel that I''m the right counsellor for you and make sure that I signpost you to an alternative counsellor/service. I will allow you to make full use of sessions and will recommend the frequency of the sessions depending on the complexity of the issues you bring to the assessment session. Sessions can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly and can be spread out until you feel comfortable with what''s going on for you and things are making more sense to you. Counselling is a safe space to offload and explore what''s going on for you. It may be alternative to your own, partner''s, friends or family''s views and receiving advice that''s what they think is right for you. Counselling is not about me giving you advice. However, I will advise you of coping techniques / strategies that maybe of benefit to you. I provide with you my time, commitment and compassion to your needs in a safe and comfortable homely environment. In working together, this can ease your distress and worries, by breaking them down into sizeable chunks. Counselling includes advising and understanding your problems/issues together to explore, evaluate and find your answers in your own way and in your own time with ongoing support. When you are looking at making improvements/changes in your life it''s important to recognise that this doesn''t always go smoothly and sometimes it is one step forward and two steps back. This is part of making progress and is beneficial to learn from mistakes along the way. As sessions continue you may recognise how to adapt and adjust to how you would like things to be, naturally and in your own individual way of being. I work from a designated first-floor room within my home in a comfortable environment with access to a toilet, if needed.

Indaba Couselling
Nottingham, Nottinghamshire
I am a person-centred counsellor offering short-term & open-ended therapy in a safe, confidential setting in Nottingham. I appreciate that taking the first step to seek counselling can be daunting, and that you need to feel safe and comfortable with your therapist. Perhaps you are unsure about exactly what counselling is? I will work safely with you to explore whatever may be troubling you. I am here to help you with any issues with which you feel you are struggling. Perhaps you have a sense that you “just don’t want to feel this way anymore.” We will work together to enable you to develop your self-awareness and find insights and solutions that are unique and empowering for you. You may be affected by a specific trauma or a general sense of anxiety, anger or depression. Perhaps you are struggling in a relationship, be that with a partner or another family member, or you may wish to build your confidence and self-esteem. My specialisation is bereavement and loss in all its forms, such as difficulties faced following your loss of a job, perhaps your home, or possibly a relationship. Following on from 13 years experience as a secondary school teacher, I have a special affinity for working with young people, and recognise the emotional challenges that can hinder the development of their full potential. There is no problem that is too small because if it matters to you then it is a valid issue for counselling. I will listen respectfully and compassionately and support you as you develop your self-awareness and find insights and solutions that are unique and empowering for you. Without judging you or offering advice I will seek to support you as you try to make sense of your feelings.I also am experienced in online counselling, Skype, and telephone counselling, and in this way geography does not have to be a barrier to you accessing therapy. Our first session is FREE to give you space to decide if you feel comfortable that I am the right counsellor for you. In our first session we will talk through your expectation of counselling, and I will answer any questions you may have, especially if you have not experienced therapy before. SUPERVISION: I am a Clinical Supervisor and I practise a Person-Centred approach. Having supervision means that a therapist meets with another counsellor to discuss and review client work, along with their professional and often personal development. This protects clients and adds value to the service offered by improving the ability of therapist through the aid of an objective, supportive individual. A supervisor encourages a counsellor to reflect on their practice and facilitates on-going self –development, linking their work to theory, and encouraging continuous learning. Essential self-monitoring of the supervisees own feelings and thoughts which might arise from client work is explored. All counsellors and psychotherapists, regardless of experience, need supervision, and professional bodies such as the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy consider it an ethical imperative. I see supervision as a dynamic working alliance between myself and a counsellor, and a joint exploration of material presented by the supervisee. I practise a Person-Centred approach and facilitate an opportunity for a therapist to reflect on their practise, receive feedback and encouragement, and where appropriate, guidance. In Person-Centred Supervision, the counsellor brings themselves such that the focus is largely on the counsellor as opposed to the client. My object is to enable the counsellor to gain in ethical competence, confidence, compassion and creativity, so as to be able to give the best possible emotional and therapeutic support to their clients. I encourage a constant curiosity so as to avoid complacency and to promote constant growth and self-awareness around emotional responses and how these impact in the therapy room. I encourage supervisees to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding as counsellors, and to reflect on and evaluate their practise. I believe in providing a therapeutic space that offers a non-judgemental environment as it affords an opportunity to address thoughts and feelings that arise from client work. In line with this I assist in monitoring standards and ethics of practise, adhering to the BACP Ethical framework. I recognise that each party has unique and valuable knowledge and experience and that we can learn from each other. While the focus may be on the supervisee, there is a responsibility to the client, and as such I consider it a three way liaison of counsellor, supervisor and client, comprising: - Support and encouragement - Teaching and integrating theoretical knowledge and practise - Assessment in the maintenance of standards - Transmission of professional values and ethics Stewart, W., 1997. An A-Z of Counselling Theory and Practice. Supervision is an essential element of counselling practice and the BACP recommendation is one and a half hours every month, with additional supervision should client load be heavy or if a specific issue arises requiring consultation. QUALIFICATIONS: MA Counselling (University of Nottingham); Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (EMTC); Diploma in Clinical Supervision (Counselling Xtra); Bachelor of Arts (University of Cape Town); Diploma in Higher Education (University of Cape Town) I am a Registered Member of the BACP (MBACP) and abide by their Code of Ethics and Practise. Julia Miles Counselling
Oxford, Oxfordshire
As a qualified psychodynamic counsellor, my approach is to help you discover and address the root of your problem, and not just deal with the symptoms. I start from the belief that for us all, our present state of mind is influenced by unconscious memories of the past. If together, we explore your history, so you can make sense of your experiences and then think about them, you will be empowered in the future to make choices, rather than to be swept along by feelings which are out of control.

North Oxfordshire Counselling
Banbury, Oxfordshire
Strong, effective Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) offering counselling that is solution focussed. I offer a warm, secure and open therapeutic relationship coupled with rational, structured CBT tools and skills. Whilst it can sometimes be helpful to understand where our problems came from, that understanding may not be enough, in itself, to free us from their influence. Working together as a team, we will draw a 360 degree view of the current problem and devise a strategy for change that draws on your current strengths. CBT is clinically proven to be at least as effective as anti-depressants making it the therapy of choice for the NHS without the need for long-term medication. Most clients report an improvement in as little as 2 sessions. "We can''t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" - Albert Einstein.

Daniel Peng Psychological Services
Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire
Background I set up Private Counselling because I wanted to provide professional, confidential, non-judgemental, and individually tailored counselling for people. I have been joined by a colleague of mine; please request further information. Our styles of working differ, which enables us to provide the most suitable counselling for you. Our interest areas differ as well, which means we can work with various issues. We are members of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), and we follow the BACP Ethical Framework. We have regular supervision, and we follow an on-going programme of continued professional development to maintain and further the therapeutic services we offer. What is counselling? People come to counselling for as many different reasons as we are different people. This could be when you are in crisis and struggling to cope; when you just ‘don’t feel like yourself’; when you want to understand an experience in the past or present and/or when you feel that you could be happier in the future. Counselling is an opportunity for you to explore matters which have been affecting your life. Counselling provides a safe environment for you to look at what might work better for you. As counsellors we support and guide you through this journey. Counselling is an opportunity to talk about what troubles you and to be listened to in a way which assists you to understand yourself better, including your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. It can help you to find relief from difficult and painful feelings, and look at ways of living your life more positively or constructively. What do we offer? We offer you a warm and understanding therapeutic relationship in a safe and confidential space. We will meet you as an equal with honesty, curiosity and empathy. We will not tell you what to do but support you to look at what could be different for you in relationship with your real self and others. We believe that we are all individuals and give that the utmost respect. As every individual is different so is every counsellor and therefore every therapeutic relationship. This fuels our passion for this work and our energy in looking at how we could best work together. We have worked with clients from diverse backgrounds be that age, gender, ethnicity, sexuality, disability or religion. Central to the way we work is wanting to understand what life is like for you — that could be what you have experienced in the past, what is happening for you now and/or where you want to go next. We believe that it is through relationship that we can get in touch with our own true self. It is through the connection of person to person that we can find the inner strength to face the challenges, pain, confusion, loss and infinite possibilities that life brings us. It is then that we are able to reach our full potential as the unique people we are. To make meaning of our experiences and make choices that are true to our self.

WISE COUNSELLING
Sudbury, Suffolk
WISE COUNSELLING - Eileen Wise MBACP I am a qualified counsellor living in Suffolk between the villages of Clare and Cavendish. I can offer support when the challenges of life become overwhelming; whether it’s bereavement, divorce, too much stress, depression, sadness, or anxiety, there are many ways that counselling can help people through difficult times. Sometimes we just need someone to talk to, someone who is professionally trained to listen and understand. Visiting a counsellor may seem daunting or even a bit scary at first, but by making that all important decision to try and seek help you are already on the way to improving your life and how you feel. “I believe we all have it in us to change our lives and make them better. Sometimes we simply need someone to help us find our way and that is what I try to offer my clients.” There may be many times in our lives when we face problems that we do not feel able to handle on our own. That’s when it helps to talk to someone with professional experience who can listen and help. Your problems might be longstanding or something you have felt recently, but there comes a moment when seeking help is simply the right thing to do. Facing difficulties can be lonely and frightening, and that is why I am here for my clients. I am a friendly, non-judgemental professional counsellor. I will always give you the care and attention you need to enable you to talk about your fears and problems and I can help you find ways to understand and cope with them. About my counselling and what to expect There is no set time for how long therapy lasts – for some it may last a few weeks, while for others it may be months. I prefer it if clients commit to at least six sessions (but you are free to stop at any time). I believe there is no one single approach to counselling. I trained as an integrative counsellor, meaning I have studied several different therapeutic approaches, which help me to find the best way to work with you. We will talk about why you feel what you feel and I will help you to understand why that is and how it affects you. If there are areas in your life which you want to change, I will help you to bring about those changes. I am totally accepting of my clients and allow them to freely express their emotions and feelings – I have empathy and am non-judgemental at all times. Many people feel they are never really listened to and I offer my clients what I call “exquisite listening” – when you are with me I am there for you one hundred percent. Working in this way enables my clients to come to terms with any negative and sad feelings that may be causing their emotional problems. I help my clients to see themselves as individuals with the power and freedom to bring about change for the good. We will explore exactly what it is you need in your life to make it better. I work from my home in a warm, secure and comfortable environment where you will have total privacy. My experience as a counsellor includes: Depression and anxiety Panic attacks and stress Low self-esteem/lack of confidence Feelings of loneliness and isolation Bereavement Relationship issues and family difficulties Young people 16+ years Work related issues WALKING & TALKING THERAPY Some people find talking in an enclosed space difficult or intimidating so I offer clients the option of Walking and Talking Therapy. A stroll through the beautiful countryside can help people relax, open up and talk about their problems. Research carried out by Mind, the mental health charity shows that, for some people, being in the open air and countryside improves psychological and mental wellbeing. Perhaps you have already tried traditional counselling and it has not worked. Then Walking and Talking Therapy might be an alternative. I live in the middle of stunning countryside with a network of footpaths. The walks are gentle, not strenuous, but of course it will depend on the weather. If the weather is bad we will have the session indoors.

Faye Wilson Counselling & Psychotherapy
Worcester, Worcestershire
I am a fully qualifed counsellor, and a member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). The BACP is one of the UK's biggest counselling organisation, and I use their ethical framework and standards to guide my practice. I am insured, and I have an up to date DBS Certificate. I have my office in an elegant, old manor house in Hallow, 3 miles from Worcester city centre. The house and grounds are beautiful, and it is a great place for therapy to take place. I decided to train as a counsellor because I have always been interested in people; listening to them, learning from them, helping them. I love what I do; to be able to walk alongside somebody in their time of need is such a privilege. I work predominately in a Person-Centred way, and follow the work and teachings of Carl Rogers. This approach really emphasises the importance of the relationship between the counsellor and the client, and the need for me to be as empathic, non-judgemental and as 'real' as possible. These core conditions allow growth and development; being valued and prized as a person can help you accept yourself, reconnect with who you really are, and make changes in your life. I create a safe, warm and supportive space for you to explore your emotions, to make sense of your situation, to re-examine your relationships and think about yourself. We can discuss your life experiences, difficult decisions, relationships, your home or work life, your past, new ways to cope, anything you want. The Person-Centred approach highlights the need for the client to be in control. I work in a non-directive way, ensuring that we talk about what you want to talk about, at your own pace. This is so important to me, because of course, you are the expert in your own life. In our sessions, I will sometimes challenge you, but I will never give you advice, or push you to talk about something you don't want to. I will encourage you to lead the way, but you will have me walking alongside with you, helping you on your journey. Sometimes, clients find it useful if I draw upon other approaches such as Mindfulness, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Personal Coaching. These approaches can offer some real insight into the way your mind might be working, and how you have the power to change the way you think. I use worksheets to help us work through these techniques and track your progress.
Time with Me Therapeutic Services

A Play Therapist offers children a wide range of games, toys and activities to help them express their worries and feelings at their own pace and in a language they are comfortable with. Play therapy uses a child's natural means of expression, play. Possible reasons a child might be referred are challenging or aggressive behaviour, experiencing a form of trauma such as a death in the family, parents separated, witnessing domestic abuse, child has been abused. Finding school difficult, being bullied, or have friendship issues, quiet, withdrawn and upset a lot.

I am offering you this opportunity today. Some of you might have friends and family you can turn to but still feel like you are not being listened to.
