Southern Crane Kungfu is a martial arts club based on the Southern Chinese kungfu styles of Tiger and Crane. Southern Crane Kungfu is a recognized style with direct links to China and Singapore. These two ancient styles of kungfu (Gong Fu) are complex, pattern-based fighting systems, suitable for all ages of practitioner. Our combined style is a rare system of martial arts that combines principles, techniques and applications, principally using the Fujian White Crane system. These two styles complement each other. Southern Crane Kungfu combines soft and hard Qigong. The soft side of our style is called Shuang Yang Rou Ruan Chien. This translates as 'Frost and Sun White Crane Soft Art'. Shuang Yang can be compared to TaiChi. Our form consists of 66 moves that is still used as a fighting art by the most experienced practitioners of the style. The hard side of our style consists of 16 foundation patterns. After these are attained the practitioner is taught numerous advanced patterns within the White Crane system. The Southern Crane Kungfu system uses empty hand forms as well as weapons, iron shirt and iron palm conditioning, two-person forms, Chin Na and San Shou. As a club, we regularly visit China to maintain our roots with the traditional birthplace of our style of Kungfu. This is an effective, complete system that is a challenge to master.
