Read The Registration Instructions

I like to think that the registration form for adding free listing to UK Small Business Directory is pretty simple, but have come to the conclusion it isn’t simple enough for some people.

Here are some typical example of what happens when people register via the business registration form here – Add Listing to UK Small Business Directory

  1. Despite the fact people are asked to check if they are already listed, I still get people trying to add duplicate listings.
  2. There is a drop down box for people to select the most rellevant business category, people either don’t select a category or select one which has no relevance to the listing they are adding
  3. There is a box that asks for just the 1st line of the business address, people still add the full address in this box, despite the fact the town, county and postcode are asked for below.
  4. There is a drop down box to select the postal town the business is located in, people sometimes don’t even select a town or just use the 1st on the list
  5. There is a drop down box to select the county the business is located in, people sometimes don’t even select a county or just use the 1st on the list
  6. There are clear instructions on what format to enter the phone number in, people ignore this
  7. People don’t include the http:// or https:// when adding their website
  8. People ignore the instructions on adding a business description

You will notice I say people a lot in the list above, I’m begining to think these are either non English speaking people or may in fact not be people at all, but robots.

As of today, I will no longer be correcting bad entries but just deleting them from the approval queue
